Ms. Sunita Verma

Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY)

Ms. Sunita Verma joined the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) in 1990 and has since played a pivotal role in shaping India’s electronics R&D landscape. As senior director at MeitY, she contributed significantly to advancing research in microelectronics, nanotechnology, system design, and HPC. She has conceptualized national policies, supported R&D initiatives in academic institutions, and helped establish cutting-edge infrastructure across the country. Sunita was instrumental in implementing the Special Manpower Development Programme, strengthening India’s global presence in VLSI design. She also led efforts to establish nanofabrication facilities at premier institutions like IITs and IISc, resulting in skilled manpower and innovative sensor technologies. Her recent work in promoting the fabless semiconductor industry contributed to the formulation of the National Policy on Electronics 2019. This led to the launch of the Chips to Startup (C2S) program and the Design Linked Incentive Scheme, fostering innovation among 100 startups and MSMEs.
