Omkaram Nalamasu, Ph.D.

Dr. Omkaram (Om) Nalamasu is Senior Vice President and Chief technology Officer (CTO) of Applied Materials, Inc., World’s leading Semiconductor and Display equipment company. He is also the President of Applied Ventures, LLC, the Corporate Venture Capital arm of Applied Materials and a leading global deep tech investor with nearly 100 investments in 19 countries with ~$500M capital.

Dr. Nalamasu joined Applied in 2006 after serving as a NYSTAR Distinguished Professor of materials science and engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he also served as vice president of research. Prior to that, he has held key research and technology development leadership positions at AT&T Bell Laboratories, Bell Laboratories/Lucent Technologies, and Agere Systems, Inc.

He received numerous recognitions and awards for his contributions including 2026 ACS Industrial Chemistry Award, IRI (Innovation Research Interchange) Innovation Leadership Award, IEEE Fellow, Member of US National Academy of Engineering, IEEE Frederick Philips Award, ACS Roy W. Tess award, Japan Photopolymer Science and Technology award and multiple others. He serves on several national and international advisory boards including on the boards of The Tech Interactive in San Jose, GSA (Global Semiconductor Association), and Singapore’s AME IAP. He has published >170 papers and is a prolific inventor with 315 worldwide patents (issued and published and yet to be issued).

He received his Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada.
